The Dormaa Building and Construction Association within Dormaa Ahenkro of the Bono region has pleaded with the Dormaa Central, Dormaa West, and East Assemblies to factor them as certified building contractors and award to them some governmental building projects in the area to facilitate their construction works and boost the local economy.
Speaking to Kwaku Mensah Abrampa in an exclusive interview during the official inauguration of the Association at Dormaa Ahenkro on the THEME: Accuracy, Elder. Williams Kwadwo Ntow, the Chairman of the Dormaa Building and Construction Association explained the motives for which the association was formed denoting that it was formed to execute quality work done with the core vision of extending helping hands to everyone when the need arises.
He indicated the association was not formed just to enrich themselves or intimidate their clients but to ensure the maintenance of effective relationships with their clients to ensure quality work output.
They seized the opportunity to plead with Nananom and the Land Allocation committee to liaise with the Assemblies to ensure effective demarcation of land and provision of route to the site to enhance their activities adding that the MCEs and DCEs in the 3 Assemblies of Dormaa and its surrounding areas must factor them as certified contractors with the common goal of improving the quality work done hence some building contracts from central government to the various assemblies must be awarded to them to help stimulate the local economy and for convincing marketing of their activities to the masses to uplift the name of Dormaa Ahenkro.
Elder Williams Kwadwo Ntow again offered advice to the youths to refrain from sports betting and other forms of gambling and involve themselves in craftsmanship since it has a lot of positive impact in life.
He explained how the young boys continuously swerve construction works with excuses that the construction field is a difficult area to work, but refuting those claims, he said it is important to involve yourself in an occupation that will support all your life journey than to quickly look for money through sports betting and other means that will not last any longer.
Some members of the Association expressed satisfaction with their leaders for considering their welfare.
They advised parents and guardians to pay rapt attention to their wards who are into apprenticeship as it happens to those in formal education. They bemoaned how some Guardians and parents ignore the welfare of their wards in apprenticeship and only focus on formal education adding that formal education is not the only way to success hence the need for parents to ensure adequate investment in apprenticeship and craftsmanship.
