Over 200 residents of Gyamfikrom Electoral Area in the New Juaben North Municipality of the Eastern region have had their National Health Insurance Cards Renewed for free by an aspiring Assembly Member for the area Kankam Twumasi popularly known as “On Point”
This was done after a joint collaboration effort with a philanthropist Mr. Asare Gyapong donated medical equipments to Gyamfikrom Clinic to assist effective primary health care delivery in the community.
The medical equipments consist of 2 pulse oximeter, 1 Adult weighing scale and 2 BP apparatus at a cost of Ghc 5,000.
In addition to the free renewal of their insurance policies, free health screening and medications as well as some counseling services were given to the residents to help address some critical health issues bedeviling them and needs urgent attention.1
“The gesture by the Aspiring Assembly Member Kankam Twumasi was a sigh of relief and awareness creation since some of us even don’t have money to renew our insurance policies”, according to some of the beneficiaries.
Others also expressed their gratitude to Kankam Twumasi and said the health screening has aided them to know their health status and taken key advice on their diet for a healthy living.
Mr. Selorm Kudjo , Health Assistant at Gyamfikrom Clinic urged the residents to be meticulous of the food and water they take into their bodies since most of them were diagnosed of high blood pressure.
Finally, the Aspiring Assembly Member for Gyamfikrom Electoral Area Kankam Twumasi outlined the motive behind the provision of medical equipments to the clinic , free renewal of NHIS Cards as well as free Health Screening for the residents.
Kankam Twumasi clarify by saying “as I commenced my campaign I realized that most the people have not renewed their insurance policies due to ignorance or they don’t have money to renew it so I decided to organize this mass renewal exercise”
“myself and the team have been able to renewed over 200 individual’s policies and yet we are receiving majority of them of which we will make sure we renew it for them all” he added.
