The Research, Policy, Monitoring and Evaluation(RPME) directorate of the National Health Insurance Authority has organized a week training program for regional research teams of 10 regions within the northern enclave.
The training program is taking place at the Claims Processing Centre (CPC) Kumasi from the 27th November-1st December, 2023.
The participants of the program include all five members of the regional research committee from Ashanti, Western North, Ahafo, Bono East, Bono, Nothern, Savanna, North East, Upper East and Upper West regions.1
The team and resource persons from NHIA Head Office comprised the Director for RPME, Dr. Asenso-Boadi, a Deputy Director at RPME, Mr. Abass Sulemana and a senior manager Mariam Musah also from the directorate.
At the training program, the Director for RPME Dr. Asenso Boadi welcomed all participants to the meeting and admonished all to take the training seriously. He indicated that the NHIA as a data driven institution is poised to use data and research to improve on its operations and also develop its human resource for efficiency. “This training is to equip you with research knowledge and skills to be able undertake operational research to solve challenges of the authority” he said.
Mr. Abass Sulemana entreated participants to be interactive and contribute to the discussion for better understanding of the training program.
Mariam Musah in her presentation also took Participants through operational research process to equip participants with research knowledge and understanding to help in carrying out operational research at the various regions in areas that impact directly on the authority’s operations. Various discussion sessions were held to make the training practical and interactive.
Participants after the day two (2) expressed their views on how beneficial the training was and also thanked executive management for the support in building staff capacity as part of the the authority’s five (5Ds) agenda.
The training program is expected to continue till Friday 1 December, 2023 with some insights on data analysis from experts in the field.
