Former Bibiani Goldstars tactician Michael Osei has backed Asante Kotoko midfielder Richmond Lamptey, Kelvin Osei Asibey of Hearts of Oak and Goldstars Stephen Banahene included in the Black Stars squad.
Osei was in attendance when Hearts of Oak locked horns with Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League week 14 clash was impressed with the performance of Lamptey and Osei Asibey.
The Porcupine Warriors, who were playing away to Hearts of Oak prevailed with a 3-2 win in the much-anticipated encounter last Sunday.
Speaking in an interview with Koforidua-based Bryt FM, the former Ghana international named Lamptey, Osei Asibey and Bibiani Goldstars midfielder Stephen Banahene as home-based players that can fit in the national team considering their exploits in the local scene.
“Kelvin Osei Asibey is one player I admire so much in the Hearts of Oak team. He is phenomenal defensively, tackles well, very fast, his passing abilities and composure are just perfect. Truth be told, I’m impressed with him”
“I think Richmond Lamptey is an exceptional player. When fit, I think he is one player who is a national asset. His ball passing, control and everything is on top. Personally, I think he deserve national team call up same as Stephen Banahene and Osei Asibey. Lamptey and Banahene are players are type of players who can hold onto the ball and pass very well”
“I have watched these players several times, in my opinion and experience in the game, I believe they can fit in the national team. I’m a coach and can’t impose players on national team coaches but I think they are players should be given some attention” he said.
