The National Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party will make a determination on the Akuapem South Municipal Chief Executive Frank Aidoo’s fate in the upcoming parliamentary Primaries in the Constituency today despite elections set to happen in two days.
This development follows the withdrawal of the incumbent member of Parliament, Hon. Osei Bonsu Amoah from the race.
Hon. OB Amoah is believed to have joined the race to prevent the municipal Chief Executive from contesting per the party’s rules which does not authorize MMDCE’s to contest their sitting MPs.
It is also believed that, the incumbent’s decision to occlude the municipal Chief Executive from the race was to create better chances for his personal aide and darling boy, one Eric Appeadu.
The municipal Chief Executive who picked nominations and subsequently filling at the party’s regional office in Koforidua attached a petition asking the party to clear him to join the contest anytime the incumbent member of Parliament, Hon. Osei Bonsu Amoah withdraws from the race.
Upon the withdrawal of OB Amoah, Frank Aidoo has reactivated his petition at the party’s head office and expecting to be cleared to join the contest.
Reports available indicates that, the National Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party is meeting to make a determination of the matter today.
The Akuapem South Municipal Chief Executive is likely to join the race though NEC is yet to make a determination.
The Akuapem South Constituency Primaries scheduled for Saturday January 27th 2024 is likely to be postponed.
