Minority leader Cassiel Ato Forson, has expressed worry over the deterioration of the country’s democracy, particularly with the high number of Ghanaians losing interest in democracy.
He has hence called on H. E. the president,Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and his vice Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to make reforms to their style of government.
“Our country is not sitting well in some of the things we do and just like Parliament has made reforms, I call on H. E the president and vice president to reform their governance because Ghanaians are fast losing hope in our democracy and we can’t allow this to happen”he said
He had made this call at the annual leaders’ media briefing with members of the Parliamentary Press Corps on Wednesday,February 7,2024.
The briefing seeks to abreast the media on activities slated for the commencement of a meeting and other related matters.
Using the platform, he emphasized that there is the urgent need for the Akufo Addo led government to make this reform so to get the confidence of Ghanaians and for the country’s democracy to succeed.
He noted that so far, the country has weathered the storm of the worst economic crisis of its live despite democracy still standing, yet it needs protection and correction to make sure that going forward,there will be increase of tempo of Parliamentary oversight.
Political Parties must introspect excessive spending of money
At the same event the member of Parliament for Suame constituency Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu called on political parties to do an introspective into excessive spending of money to get delegates votes during Presidential and Parliamentary Primaries.
