Former Black Queen goalkeeper, Patricia Mantey is seeking for financial support from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports to undergo surgery.
Mantey, who plies her trade for Immigration Ladies has been out of action since October 2021 following a ligament injury.
Currently, Mantey walks with crutches and also wear leg brace to aid her movement.
In an interview with Accra-based Asempa FM, the goalkeeper pleaded with the domestic football governing body and the Sports Ministry to help fund her surgery.
“I sustained my ligament injury in October 2021 while playing a friendly game with my club at McDan Astro Turf. It was a corner kick, so I jumped into the air and caught the ball. When I landed, I realized my leg had twisted,” she said.
“After my MRI test, the doctor told me that my ligament tissues had torn into pieces, and I needed to undergo surgery, which cost GHC 60,000.
“Although Immigration still pays me, I appeal to the GFA, Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the general public to support me with money to undergo ligament surgery.”
