MTN Ghana has supported Akyem Tafo Traditional Area to celebrate Ohum Festival with many donations in the Eastern Region.
An amount of GH¢10,000, drink hampers, GH¢1,000 airtime were donated to Akyem Tafo traditional to support Ohum Festival. Ohum Festival is a celebration of culture, unity, thanksgiving and economic growth.
The donation was aimed to strengthen relationships with customers in this area and help resolve some of the customer issues. MTN Ghana has supported over 40 traditional councils across the country with a belief to promote development in communities.
MTN Regional Area Sales Manager of Eastern, Volta and Oti regions, Mr Ransford Gyan said that MTN Ghana remains committed to supporting the festivals and working with the Tafo Traditional Area.
“We hope that through this festival we will be able to strengthen our relationship with our customers in this area and help resolve some of the customer issues. In addition, we seek an opportunity to do some education on Momo fraud. We all have to help educate our cherished customers on the benefits of keeping their phones and wallets safe,’’ Mr Ransford Gyan added.
‘‘Nananom, this week, the MTN Ghana Foundation team came to the Eastern region to interview women, youth and differently abled persons under its Enterprise support initiative. The Enterprise Support Program is an initiative that supports the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), bridge the unemployment gap, bolster economic empowerment, foster innovation, spur social impact and boost export promotion,’’ Mr Ransford Gyan explained.
The Regional Area Sales Manager said that they are focusing on using the festival celebration as an opportunity to educate customers on Momo fraud and the benefits of keeping their phones and wallets safe.
‘‘Under the initiative selected micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) beneficiaries are trained and given seed capital to support their business. I am happy to announce that some of the women interviewed were from Akyem Tafo. If selected, they will be provided with training, business development support, technical assistance and seed funding of up to GHS 20,000 each,’’ he affirmed.
MTN Regional Area Sales Manager commended Osabarima Adusei Peasah IV, Akyem Tafohene and people of Akyem Tafo Traditional Area for their continuous support and loyalty to the MTN Brand.
‘‘We pay tribute to the hard work and commitment of the Traditional Council and festival planning committee for organizing this festival every year. We recognize the amount of work involved in planning and running an event of this magnitude. We stand in solidarity with the Council and pledge our continued support for the Ohumkan festival,’’ Mr Gyan pledged.
Daasebre Adusei Peasah IV, Akyem Tafohene expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Management and staff of MTN Ghana for their kind gesture Tafo community and its environs.
Daasebre Adusei Peasah IV said that MTN Ghana has been donating to Tafo Traditional Area for Ohum festival celebration annually in the area adding that they have supported Tafo community through their corporate social responsibilities.
