A Rhino truck carrying vitamilk products has been involved in a near fatal crash on Koforidua to Mamfe highway in Eastern Region.
The accident which occured 5:57 am near Nyamebekyere saw the truck overturned trapping the driver’s mate.
The Koforidua Municipal Fire Station upon information quickly rushed to the scene with police for immediate rescue mission.
A rescue team led by ADO I Edward Quansah arrived at the scene at 6:12am.
Due to the severity of the incident, additional assistance with extrication tools was requested and arrived by 6:45 AM.
The trapped victim was successfully freed and taken to the Koforidua Central Hospital for medical treatment.
The accident occurred when the truck, registered GR 6435-23, lost balance on a curve after its load shifted, causing it to overturn.
Both the driver and his mate sustained serious injuries.
Eastern Regional Fire Commander ACFO I Timothy Osafo-Affum visited the scene later to assess the situation.
