Roads and Highways minister Francis Asenso-Boakye embarked on a day’s working visit to the Ahafo region, accompanied by the Regional Minister, Hon. George Boakye.
His first stop was the 21km Noberkaw-Sankore Road in Asunafo South, where he was joined by Frank Aduse Poku, the District Chief Executive.
This road is being undertaken by two indigenous contractors—Messrs Buadac Construction, who have completed 90% of the work, and Above Heights Construction Ltd., who are at 60%.
Both contractors assured the minister that they will substantially complete the road before the end of the year.
Next, the minister inspected the Sankore-Nakete Road and urged the contractor to expedite work to ensure the road is motorable for commuters.
Mr Asenso-Boakye also inspected the Bediako-Kasapiin Road, and engaged with the Chiefs and people of Kasapiin, together with the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Evans Opoku Bobie.
At Hwidiem, he inspected the Tano bridge linking Acherensua and Ntotronso in the Asutifi North district.
The minister was assured by the contractor that the bridge would be substantially completed by the end of October, facilitating smoother travel for commuters.
Additionally, the minister had a productive meeting with the management of Newmont Mines and inspected the progress of roadworks in Hwidiem town.
He also assessed ongoing works on the Tepa-Maaban-Goaso Road, being constructed by Messrs Kofi Job Construction.
He concluded the day in Bomaa, Tano North, where he, alongside Dr. Gideon Boako, addressed Nananom, members of the community, and the contractor for the Tepa-Bomaa-Yamfo Road, which is progressing steadily.
He, however, emphasized the importance of the Ahafo region to the government of President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Bawumia.
“The region not only contributes significantly to the nation’s food basket but is also a key hub for cocoa farming and rich mineral deposits’ he said.
