General secretary for the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Mr George Afful has stated that, the party’s four parliamentary candidates, General Secretary and the family of late Madam Akua Donkor has assign the running mate to lead in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
During an interview on Bryt fm Adekye Mu Nsem with Kwamina Sem Biney on Wednesday November 6, 2024, Mr. Afful confirmed that the running mate for GFP Kwabena Agyeman Appiah Kubi, popularly known as Roman Fada is in charge of the seat since the foundder and leader was know more.
“The best candidate to take in charge of the seat must be his running mate since nothing has been done with the vacant seat for the party of the constitution, we all know that the running mate has had good encounter with our late Flagbearer so let all come together and give the permission for him to lead the party” Mr. George Afful echoed.
He continue that, the party working hand, thus; the 4 parliamentary candidate and the General Secretary have all granted the running mate permission to take in charge of the party per the constitution.
“Since Akua Donkor has a working hand pattern, they must be part of the approving the running mate to take over the party. They all came together and gave their blessings to the running mate, now the new flagbearer for GFP” George Afful added.
The General Secretary stated leadership and the new flagbearer of the party have had a meeting with the Electoral Commission (EC) and submitted their approval documents.
“We were not expecting this at the meeting at EC office, but even before they will approve our documents, they has ordered us to show our last respect to our late mother Akua Donkor by observing a minute silence in her honor. I show my appreciation and honor to EC for showing kindness and respect to our late mother” he concluded.
He denied earlier reportage that the GFP has withdrawn from the presidential race, indicating it is a mere propaganda by some people trying to undermine the capabilities and abilities of the party.
