Prof. Seidu Mahama Alidu, political science lecturer of the University of Ghana has stated that, the NPP has made a mistake by making Dr. Bawumia the next presidential candidate.
“This is very serious, how can they solve their political issues during election period. At this time of Bawumia leading the party, it has brought divisions in the NPP” he said.
Speaking to Kwamina Sam Biney on Bryt fm Adekye Mu Nsem on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 Prof Mahama Alidu stated “It will be good to solve to the issues before this December 7 because the party has lost many Members of Parliament from 160 to 137, but the best was to ensure peace before the lection day”.
According Prof. Seidu Mahama, the best option that could have helped the NPP to win the election was to allow Alan Kofi Akyerematen to be the party’s flagbearer.
“He is the best leader for the NPP because he was closer to President Akufo-Addo more then Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. The party still needed to solve their internal problems long after the primaries if they wanted to win the elections.
Prof Mahama reacting to latest poll by Global InfoAnalytics said there was the probability of such incident in the NPP since nothing as done at the time.
He emphasized “I was not surprised that NDC had 51.1 percent in the polls because the NPPs candidate seems not appealing to many party supporters.
