Chief of Bonsuoku and also the Nifahene of Senya Beraku Traditional Council in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region, Nenyi Kweku Kwei(VI), has walked his talk as sod cutting has been done for the construction of an ultra modern market and a police station.
The University of Ghana Business School graduate during his outdooring ceremony in March this year, pledged to undertake several projects and policies that would positively impact the lives of the people in the community.
He has established the Bonsuoko Community Fund which is aimed at investing in education, health care and agriculture for the youth of the community and its surroundings.
However, speaking at the sod cutting over the weekend, Nenyi Kweku Kwei(VI) emphasized on his commitment to the development of the local economy, hence the need for an ultra modern market to ensure traders have a sound place to transact their businesses.
“Most women use their capital to erect containers to work in but find it difficult to raise another capital to start their businesses. So, I think putting up the market will do away with the financial challenge traders go through in having to erect a container and also raise capital” the chief stated.
On the construction of the police station, Nenyi Kweku Kwei(VI) retreated the need to boost security in the community so as to provide the necessary protection to lives and properties and also help fight crime in general.
“As we are going to have a market here, it is therefore important to think about security for the people who will be doing business here. This will also do away with other criminal activities in the community and its surroundings” the chief stressed.
Meanwhile, the Acting President of the Senya Beraku Traditional Council Nenyi Kometey (III) commended Nenyi Kweku Kwei(VI) for his commitment to the development of the Bonsuoku community and assured him of his outfit’s support.
He noted that chiefs are agents of development and therefore challenged chiefs within the traditional area to lead their communities in fighting for the growth and well-being of their people instead of waiting on the central government all the time.
The event was attended by traditional leaders, political figures and the people in the Bonsuoko community who could not hide their joy and expressed gratitude to the chief and his elders.
