“President-elect John Mahama does not have the power over the security as at now because there is a government in power who has to deal with all these ongoing chaos in the country” Colonel Festus Aboagye has emphasized.
He has, however, charged President Akufo-Addo and the Inspector General of Police to act accordingly to end the post election violence being expressed in some parts of the country.
Colonel Aboagye was reacting to recent attacks and looting by suspected NDC supporters on some state institutions after the Electoral Commission declared the presidential elections in favor of John Dramani Mahama on Bryt Adekyee Mu Nsem.
He described the issue as periodic act that normally occur anytime there is a change of government from one party to another
On the issue of presence of military personnel at the various polling centres during Saturday’s general election amidst, the retired military officer questioned the decision to reverse an earlier communique by the high command to stay off the grounds and rather be on a standby.
He expressed worry at some chaotic incidents experienced during the elections, situation he thought could have been prevented.
