Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has issued a statement acknowledging the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s victory and expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to serve his party and the nation.
In his statement, Dr. Prempeh emphasized the NPP’s respect for the will of the Ghanaian people, pledging to work collaboratively to address the challenges raised by the electoral verdict. He thanked God for His guidance and expressed deep appreciation to the NPP’s leadership, particularly the party’s Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for their trust and support.
Dr. Prempeh revealed that he has engaged in discussions with Dr. Bawumia and other party leaders to reflect on the election results.
He highlighted the need for introspection and indicated that the NPP would analyze the causes of their defeat to emerge stronger and regain the trust of Ghanaians.
Acknowledging the support of party faithful, his family, and campaign team, Dr. Prempeh reaffirmed his belief in the NPP’s values, traditions, and ideals.
He expressed confidence in the party’s ability to recover, rebuild, and bounce back in future elections.
“May God bless Ghana and the NPP, and make us all resilient and strong,” Dr. Prempeh concluded.
The NPP, under the leadership of Dr. Bawumia and Dr. Prempeh, had hoped to retain power but now looks forward to rebuilding after a period of reflection.
