The Ghana National Fire Service, Eastern Regional Command has formed a comprehensive fire-taxforce to deal with fire outbreaks at the major markets at Koforidua in the New Juaben South Municipal
The initiative underscores the service’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, especially in Koforidua, New Juaben South Municipal major commercial markets, Juaben Serwaa, Central and Agartha makerts as well.
The Eastern Regional Chief Fire Officer, ACFO Timothy Afful has directed the deployment of personals to Koforidua Juaben Serwaa and Central makerts to patrol day and night to ensure 24-hour fire protection.
As part of this initiative, the dedicated taskforce team will patrol the makerts day and night to provides constant vigilance and ensure swift response in case of emergencie.
ACFO Afful said the fire unit post in Koforidua makert established is a key measure to conduct safety education and regular inspections and enforce compliance with fire safety protocols.
According to him the GNFS personnel assigned to the market duties will submit daily situation reports (SITREPS) to Eastern Regional Command Operation platform for review and actions.
He indicated that the GNFS would collaborate with market leaders to enhance surveillance and ensure quick responses to potential fire incidents.
ACFO Afful noted that the Fire Service is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all makerts in Eastern Region and urged stakeholders, market authoritie, traders and equally the general public to cooperate fully to measures by the GNFS.
“This initiative is not only about fire prevention but also about creating a safer environments for economic activities, the success of this market leaders engagement depends on the cooperation of all stakeholders” he stated.
