President John Dramani Mahama, on Monday held bilateral talks with General Abdourahamane Tchiani, President of the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland and Head of State of Niger.
Their discussions focused on enhancing security cooperation in the Sahel and West African region to combat terrorism, improved and unimpeded trade between our two countries, and strengthening bilateral ties.
They also discussed the need for collaboration and recognition of the Alliance of Sahel States by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and a renewed commitnent to fighting terrorism, which threatens not only the Sahel region but also countries further down towards the coast.
President Mahama is also expected to be in Burkina Faso later today.
