John Abdulai Jinapor, Minister for Energy and Green Transitions, has cautioned State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) against misusing electricity, emphasizing that power is no longer free and must be paid for in full.
He emphasized that in order to avoid severe financial difficulties in the energy sector, a shift in perception toward the use of power is required.
The Minister cautioned that there can be disastrous repercussions if a sensible approach to energy use is not taken.
In an interview with Metro TV on Wednesday, March 26, he issued this warning.
“Power is no longer free. Electricity is no more free, and we must all pay for the power that we use,” he stated.
He pointed out that in order to maintain sustainability in the current condition of energy management, everyone must work together.
Mr. Jinapor went on to stress the significance of power usage efficiency, especially for SOEs, which he charged with excessive consumption and inadequate financial accountability.
In order to prevent placing undue strain on the national grid and government resources, he asked institutions to give energy saving and payment compliance top priority.
“If we don’t change our attitude, we will run into huge problems,” the Minister warned.
He urged for tougher steps to stop financial losses in the energy sector and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enforce payment standards.
