Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, has paid a visit to flood-prone areas after heavy downpour in Koforidua and its environments as part of measures to deepen and foster relationships with Ghanaians in the region.

Hon. Rita Akosua Awatey toured the flooded areas with the Eastern Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), the Regional Engineer, personnel from urban roads, and other relevant stakeholders.
Hon. Rita Akosua Awatey disclosed that they will use excavators seized from illegal miners as equipment to clear choked drainage systems.
Speaking to the press during her visitation, the Regional Minister explained that the heavy rainfall has affected many people and destroyed many properties in the region.

Hon. Rita Akosua Awatey articulated that strategic measures have been put in place to clear choked waterways to prevent recurrence of flood incidents. She assured the affected victims about government readiness to improve their standard of living.
The Regional Minister stated categorically that President John Dramani Mahama led-administration remains committed to improving the well-being of the general public.

She instructed the Regional Urban Roads Director to fix the Effiduase traffic light to prevent road crashes in the New Juaben North Municipality.
