The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for New Juaben South, Hon. Ransford Owusu Boakye, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, led a team of engineers and consultants to hand over the long-awaited Abogri road project to M/S Kingdwasco Construction Limited, owned by Nana Dwomoh Brobbey of Capital View Hotel.
This marks official commencement of construction works on the deplorable roads in the Abogri community—a longstanding concern for residents and commuters alike.
The community, located within the New Juaben South Municipality, has reportedly never benefited from a tarred road since its establishment.
Prior to the handover, the MCE and his delegation paid a courtesy call on Nana Tete Pimpong , Adwesohene and Mponuahene of Akuapem, to officially inform the traditional authorities about the commencement of the project.
Speaking during the visit, Hon. Owusu Boakye expressed delight at the start of the project within a month , which will be executed under the Sister Cities Support Initiative.
He added that discussions are ongoing with two landlords whose structures have encroached on portions of the road, noting that demolitions may be necessary to ensure smooth progress of work.
Nana Acheampong, Secretary to the Adwesohene expressed delight that finally Abogri roads are going to be tarred to enhance smooth transportation.
The MCE and his team also inspected ongoing works on the Nyamekrom road and assured residents that the project would be completed as scheduled.
Hon. Ransford Owusu Boakye further revealed that other key roads, including the Koforidua-Zongo stretch, will be prioritized once additional funding is secured for expansion.
