The Member of parliament for Amenfi Central Hon Joana Gyan Cudjoe on Wednesday 8th April commenced the distribution of medical equipment worth Ghc1.5 million to health facilities in the Amenfi Central District.
The equipment includes anaesthetic machines, patient monitors, centrifuges, BP apparatus, and weighing scales, aimed at boosting healthcare in the district.
The distribution, which started at Manso Amenfi Health Centre, is part of Hon Cudjoe’s plans to upgrade the facility to a hospital.
Presenting the items on her behalf the District Chief Executive, Hon Peter Amponsah, urged the district health directorate and healthcare provider’s within the district to utilize the equipment for the greater benefits of good of the people in order to improve healthcare delivery in the district and ensure the items are properly maintained.
He further called on stakeholders, the Ministry of health,None Governmental Organisation (NGO) Companies, and philanthropists to support upgrade the Manso Clincher into a standard District hospital. He bemoaned the lack of a hospital in the entire Amenfi Central District.
Mr. Ganiyu Kantamah, Nuhu District Health Director, thanked Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe for her decision to present these medical equipment.
He noted that her ambition to upgrade the facility to a hospital is commendable, considering Wassa Amenfi Central has a population of over 130,000 the lack of a district hospital in the area makes healthcare delivery very challenging. He promised to utilize the equipment to achieve its intended purpose.
The chief of Wassa Manso Amenfi, Nana Hyia Agyemang III, thanked Hon Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the MP, for presenting medical equipment to the Manso Amenfi Clinic without waiting for support from Nananom. This gesture aligns with her vision to upgrade the facility to a hospital. Nana Agyemang prayed that God would help her achieve her goal and encouraged health workers to use the equipment effectively.
He further appealed to government and the electricity company of Ghana to ensure the facility gets a stable source of power to ensure the safety of patients across all health facilities across the district.
