Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh, the Head of the Civil Service, led a delegation from the Civil Service Council on a familiarization visit to the Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, to enhance cooperation and address challenges within the public service.
During the engagement, the Minister highlighted inefficiencies within the system, stressing the need for urgency, accountability, and initiative among public officers.
He noted that delays in implementation continue to hinder progress and urged civil servants to align their work with government priorities.
Hon Akandoh further called for a cultural shift within the public sector, warning that complacency and weak enforcement of rules risk derailing national progress. “Lamentation is not a solution,” he said, urging civil servants to rise and play their critical role in national development.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Lawrence A. Kannae, Chairman of the Civil Service Council emphasized the Council’s commitment to supporting the Ministry to improve efficiency and service delivery.
He noted that strengthening collaboration between the Civil Service and government institutions is key to addressing implementation challenges and ensuring that public sector reforms achieve the desired impact.
The Council also held a meeting with the management of the Ministry of Health to discuss operational issues and improve coordination.
