Ghana new coach Carlos Queiroz has intensified preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with an extensive working tour across Europe, aimed at assessing players, building relationships, and laying the tactical foundation for the tournament.
The Portuguese tactician, who was officially unveiled in Accra last week, has wasted no time settling into his role.
He began his tenure on home soil by observing the Black Galaxies, before travelling to Europe last Sunday to continue his squad evaluation mission.
Queiroz’s early focus has been on strengthening communication with key figures in the national team setup. As part of his tour, he has already held important discussions with the team’s captain Jordan Ayew and Thomas Partey. These engagements are designed to reinforce leadership structures within the squad and ensure alignment with his tactical vision.
Besides, the experienced coach is also expected to meet several senior internationals and rising talents across Europe, while attending club matches involving Ghanaian players in different leagues.
His presence in stadiums across the continent forms part of a broader strategy to closely monitor form, fitness, and tactical adaptability ahead of the global tournament.
Ghana will feature at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico in June. It will mark the Black Stars’ fifth appearance at the tournament, with expectations high for a strong showing under new leadership.
The draw has placed Ghana in a demanding Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama, a challenging pathway that will test the team’s preparation and resilience.
