The Deputy Minister for Health, Hon. Prof. Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah, has visited the Presbyterian Health Centre at Fuoshegu as part of the Ministry’s maternal mortality reduction tour, engaging with the Chief of Fuoshegu, Naa Gurundo Lasah, and health partners to learn from the facility’s efforts in managing anaemia among pregnant women through strong community engagement.
She commended the support of Lifenet International (NGO), whose renovation of parts of the facility, staff training and provision of oxygen cylinders have strengthened maternal healthcare delivery.
During the visit, the Deputy Minister called for greater community support to help reduce maternal deaths, while noting key challenges including inadequate space for patient care, the lack of an ambulance for emergency referrals, and the need for a sustainable supply of essential medicines.
