The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has expressed profound grief following the tragic passing of Berekum Chelsea forward Dominic Frimpong, who lost his life in a violent armed robbery attack.
Frimpong, 20, lost his life after the incident on the Bibiani-Goaso road while the team was returning from a Ghana Premier League fixture. The shocking development has left the football community in mourning.
However, the Ghana FA in a statement said it received the devastating news with “profound shock and deep sorrow,” describing the incident as one that has sent shockwaves across the entire football community in Ghana.
The domestic football governing body (GFA) extended its heartfelt condolences to the late player’s family, teammates, technical staff, and management of Berekum Chelsea, acknowledging the immense pain caused by the sudden loss.
“This tragic incident is not only a huge loss to Berekum Chelsea but also to Ghana football as a whole,” the statement read. “Dominic was a promising young talent whose dedication and passion for the game embodied the spirit of our league.”
Meanwhile, the Ghana FA is in contact with the Ghana Police Service, as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident.
