My ‘Strategist’ Comment Was Meant For John Kumah Not Bawumia – Kennedy Agyapong
NPP flagbearer candidate Kennedy Agyapong emphasized that his previous remark about a “strategist” was not intended to be an insult on Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as some may have assumed.
Instead, Agyapong claimed that John Kumah, a deputy minister of finance and a representative for the Ejisu district, was the target of the remark.
Agyapong said that when he used the term “strategist,” he was referring to John Kumah in an interview with Roland Walker on TV3. He explained that he wasn’t making that specific remark in reference to Vice President Bawumia.
Agyapong had previously challenged the government’s management of the local currency, especially the Ghanaian Cedi’s decline versus significant international currencies. He did not identify anyone, but the Vice President, who is also a candidate for the NPP’s flagbearer position, is frequently involved in decisions on economic management. Given Bawumia’s involvement in economic policy within the government, it was unclear from Agyapong’s comments if he was directly targeting the vice president.
