The National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP) has announced a price hike for sachet water, citing growing production costs due to global supply issues.
The new pricing structure, which goes into effect on Monday, April 6, comes after what the organization characterizes as a notable increase in the price of raw materials, especially polymers, as a result of disruptions in the global market.
The prolonged turmoil in Iran has led to a lack of essential inputs, making it more challenging for producers to maintain current price levels, according to a statement released by NASPAWAP on April 2.
The amended structure sets the ex-factory pricing for a bag of 30 sachets (500ml each) at GH¢8, with an ex-truck price of GH¢10. The maximum sale price is similarly set at GH¢15 per bag.
The group has urged distributors, merchants, and consumers to comply with the new pricing guidelines, emphasizing that the change is critical to maintaining production and ensuring the continuous availability of safe drinking water.
