The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) is reportedly taking steps to shut down the Heaven Way Champion International Church, led by Patricia Asiedua—popularly known as Agradaa or Evangelist Mama Pat.
This development follows a wave of complaints from concerned citizens and former congregants, who allege financial misconduct, misappropriation of church funds, and fraudulent schemes disguised as spiritual practices. According to The New Republic, EOCO’s intervention has been triggered by mounting evidence of alleged irregularities in the church’s operations.
The move comes in the wake of Agradaa’s recent conviction and sentencing. On July 3, 2025, she was found guilty of fraud and charlatanic advertisement, and sentenced to 15 years in prison with hard labour. Her legal troubles began in October 2022, when she was first arrested.
EOCO’s efforts signal a broader clampdown on religious institutions accused of exploiting the public under the guise of faith.
