The Eastern Regional Coordinating Council, in collaboration with the Regional and District Agric Department, has launched the 2025 edition of the Eastern Commodity Satellite Market Fair (ECSMF) as part of a strategic effort to boost agribusiness in the Eastern Region.
The 2025 edition is in line with the annual regional flagship initiative, which aims at exhibiting various commodities in the agriculture industry. It was under a theme: Shaping the Future of Agricultural Industrialization Through Strategic Investment. The 2025 Eastern Commodity Satellite Market Fair will commence on Monday, September 1st, and run through Friday, September 5, 2025.
The event will take place at the Koforidua Jackson park.

The Eastern Commodity Satellite Market Fair forms a transformation agenda by the Regional and District Agric Department. It is the 5th edition of the Eastern Commodity Satellite Market Fair, which focuses on showcasing various brands of value-added products and creating an organized platform for trade.
Hon. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, the Eastern Regional Minister, at the launching ceremony articulated that the fair will unlock power to transform the region into an agro-industrial hub.
The minister continued that it will link farmers directly with buyers, processors, exporters, and investors. She said that the program will promote value-added products from local commodities.
She added that the initiative will also encourage strategic investment in agro-processing logistics and foster collaboration among stakeholders in the agricultural value chain.
Speaking on the Feed Ghana Program, Hon. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey said the initiative aimed at boosting agricultural productivity through enhanced seeds, fertilizers, and sustainable farming practices.
She explained that the Feed Ghana Program will provide opportunities for growth and development in the agricultural sector.
Hon. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey indicated that agricultural modernization and value addition will facilitate the establishment of agro-processing zones and factories to process raw agricultural produce into finished goods for local consumption and export.
The minister assured that the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council is ready to facilitate and promote agribusiness by providing a platform for farmers, input dealers, and processors to network, showcase products, and learn about the latest trends and business innovations.
Hon. Rita Akosua Awatey pledged that her office will continue to work with all relevant stakeholders to scale up the satellite market model, improve rural infrastructure, attract investors, and facilitate policies that encourage agribusiness development in the region.
She affirmed that fair is expected to enhance value addition, encourage value-added products, support youth development, and foster agribusiness growth in the region.

Rita Akosua Awatey commended the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council, the Regional and District Agriculture Departments, Joy Industries Limited, the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Joy Daddy Multimedia, and other partners for unlocking and strengthening the potential of the region’s agricultural value chain and creating a brighter future for commodities.

The Eastern Regional Director of Agriculture, Hajia Habiba Yusif on her part expressed that the Eastern Commodity Satellite Market Fair is a bold statement of the region’s unwavering commitment to agricultural transformation, rural prosperity, and inclusive market access for all.
“As a region richly endowed with fertile lands, diverse crops, and industrious farmers, we take immense pride in this platform that connects producers directly with buyers, processors, and the wider market,’’ said the Regional Director of Agriculture.
Madam Hajia Habiba averred that the theme for the 2025 edition reflects the shared goal of building resilient market linkages and promoting agro-industrialization.
She underscored the purpose of the initiative, which aims at providing a platform for farmers as well as actors in the agricultural value chain not only to showcase their innovations and products but also to gain valuable exposure to modern marketing strategies, value-addition opportunities, and access to investment and financing avenues.
Madam Hajia Habiba described the program as a testament to the region’s investment potentials and a step towards achieving food security and economic prosperity.
She therefore urged cherished partners, development organizations, and the private sector to foster strong collaboration to ensure it fairly achieves its purpose as a model for other regions and a vehicle for rural economic transformation.
The Eastern Regional Head of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Ms Anita Owusu-Kuffour, stated that the initiative aligns perfectly with FDA shared national vision of driving agricultural transformation and economic development through strategic investment.
The FDA Regional Head continued the regulatory body mandated to ensure the quality, safety, and efficacy of food, drugs, and other regulated products; the FDA recognizes the critical role of structured markets in strengthening the agricultural value chain.
She added that the effort by the Regional Coordinating Council and the Agric Department will empower farmers and agribusinesses, paving the way for improved standards, traceability, and regulatory compliance.
Reaffirming FDA’s commitment to supporting innovation, enhancing public health, and promoting sustainable agri-industrial growth in Ghana, Ms Anita Kuffour said that‘they believe that agriculture industrialization cannot thrive without robust systems that support quality assurance, food safety, and market access.’’
She assured the organizers that FDA stands in solidarity with the initiative.
She indicated that the FDA has supported Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) since the introduction of the fair within the region to license their facilities and their respective products, which are thriving on the Ghanaian market.
Ms. Anita Kuffour disclosed that FDA, together with other stakeholders, which include the Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA), has introduced the Progressive Licensing Scheme (PLS), which is the graduated licensing scheme.
She announced an initiative dubbed “Buy Ghana Love Ghana Campaign” aftermath of the PLS initiative aimed at promoting locally manufactured products to boost national economic growth and job creation.
The campaign seeks to encourage Ghanaians to prioritize Made in Ghana goods by increasing awareness of their quality, affordability, and benefits to the local economy. It also supports local manufacturers in expanding their market reach and competitiveness.
