The 2024 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has stated categorically that narratives on poor performance at Zongo communities are baseless propaganda.
Dr. Bawumia dismissed allegations of poor performance in Zongo areas during the 2024 general elections.
“The propaganda out there is that Muslims and the Zongo people did not cast their votes for Dr. Bawumia. When I heard it, I asked, ‘Where is the data to support these claims?’ Because for me, if you tell me something, I need data to prove whether it’s true,” Dr. Bawumia told members of the party at Adansi Asokwa constituency in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
Dr. Bawumia articulated the speculations were not supported by evidence.
