On Bryt FM’s Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show, the Spokesperson and Head of Communications at the Ministry of Energy, Mr. Richmond Rockson, disclosed that the government has made significant progress in reviving Ghana’s petroleum sector after years of dormancy.
Speaking with host Nana Yaw Obeng, Mr. Rockson explained that oil production had declined from 2019 until early this year, but recent interventions are restoring investor confidence and boosting output.
According to him, crude oil production by the Domestic Natural Investment (DNI) has increased from 240 million standard cubic feet to 270 million this year, with a projection of reaching 400 million by 2028.
He stressed that the growth reflects new investments in the sector, not old ones, adding that the government is implementing long-term strategies to increase production capacity, negotiate better deals, and ensure energy security.
Mr. Rockson also highlighted that
natural gas continues to play a vital role in keeping the country’s lights on, as it remains a key component in power generation.
