Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has been crowned Premier League Player of the Month for February following a stellar display with Manchester City.
Semenyo has made an immediate impact after switching from AFC Bournemouth during the winter transfer window. The forward scored three goals and provided an assist in five appearances in the league last month, earning him the prestigious award.
“This is a brilliant moment for me. To win the Premier League Player of the Month award so soon after joining City is something I’ll never forget,” Semenyo said on Man City’s official website.
“My focus now is on continuing to improve and helping City to achieve the best possible results. We have so much to play for, and I am really excited about this final period of the season.”
The award also marks a significant milestone for Manchester City, as Semenyo is the first player apart from Erling Haaland to claim the prize since Raheem Sterling in December 2021. Haaland, who has won the accolade four times this season, last received it in September.
Semenyo emerged as the winner from a competitive six-man shortlist that included Viktor Gyokeres (Arsenal), fellow City teammate Nico O’Reilly, Dango Ouattara (Brentford), Benjamin Sesko (Manchester United), and Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool), underscoring the immediate impact of his debut month in English football.
