The Chairman of the Concerned Drivers Association, Mr. William Osei, has called on transport operators across the country to hold off on any immediate fare increases, citing the unpredictable nature of fuel prices.
Speaking on Bryt Adekyee Mu Nsem, Mr. Osei stressed that the current fluctuations in fuel costs make it unwise for drivers to rush into adjusting transport fares. He explained that his directive applies not only to members of his association but also to all driversโ unions and transport operators who attended a meeting on Monday.
โFuel prices do not stay at one level. Today it may increase, and within a few days it could reduce again,โ he noted, highlighting the uncertainty surrounding current market trends.
According to him, although transport fares are typically reviewed twice a year, this yearโs first increment has been put on hold following a recent drop in petrol prices to about GHโต9 per litre. He indicated that the reduction makes it difficult to justify any upward adjustment in fares at this time.
Mr. Osei emphasized that transport operators are adopting a cautious approach by closely monitoring fuel price movements before making any decisions that could impact commuters.
