Hussein Ibrahim, the Ashanti Regional Minister’s Special Aide, has questioned gospel singer and broadcaster Diana Asamoah’s ability to manage significant government development projects.
He made the case on Angel FM Kumasi that large-scale projects under the government’s “Big Push” plan ought to be carried out by skilled and knowledgeable contractors.
“If Diana Asamoah could not complete the small, shoddy works given to her under the NPP government, how can she handle a big push project?” he queried.
Mr. Ibrahim emphasized that value for money and skill should take precedence over political or personal factors when it comes to government contracts.
“The Big Push should be given to competent contractors with proven experience, not people who will execute substandard work and waste public funds,” he stated.
He gave Don Cross Venture as an illustration of a trustworthy local contractor who can provide high-quality infrastructure.
“Don Cross Venture does solid road works and should be given more contracts instead of always relying on foreign firms,” he added.
Mr. Ibrahim also commended the Finance Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson, for promoting a “value for money” approach in public spending.
“The value-for-money initiative is commendable. Before any payment is made to a contractor, there should be proper inspection of the project, its structure, timelines, and labour requirements, to ensure accountability,” he stated.
