Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, says he would find it difficult to accept a ministerial appointment, insisting that his priority is to continue serving in Parliament.
Speaking at the 25th Anniversary Lecture of The Union Social Club in Accra, Mr Afenyo-Markin said he has no desire to leave Parliament for a ministerial position.
“It will be hard for me to accept a ministerial position. I don’t want to be a minister; I want to work in Parliament,” he said.
The Minority Leader emphasised his commitment to parliamentary work and his role in holding political leaders accountable while contributing to Ghana’s development.
Mr Afenyo-Markin also urged members of the social club to remain active in national affairs and use their networks and expertise to contribute meaningfully to society.
He encouraged citizens to continue engaging political leaders and offering constructive criticism, stressing that such engagement was necessary to help improve the country.
His comments come amid ongoing discussions about political appointments and the roles members of Parliament can play in national development.
