Ghana international goalkeeper, Richard Ofori has named Richard Kingston and Manuel Neuer as his role models.
The 26-year-old recently sealed his move to South African giants Orlando Pirates on a three year deal in the ongoing transfer window.
In his interview with Orlando Pirates TV, he observed both Kingston and Neuer have been an inspiration to him growing up as a young goalkeeper.
According to him, the former Black Stars goalkeeper has been his role model since he started playing and is aiming to play like the German goalie, Manuel Neuer.
“I was looking up to Richard Kingston, Ghana’s number one goalkeeper who played in England for Black Pool and everyone wants to be like him because he was a very good goalkeeper in Africa, so everyone wants to be like him because people calls him ‘Olele’”
“So growing up and meeting him as my goalkeeper’s trainer in Black Stars, I was very excited. So it’s good to at least dreaming about something and then you meet the person finally so I was happy to meet him in person but I wanted to be like him”
He continued, “I’m looking up to Manuel Neuer from Germany on the international scene. The way he plays, he commands his arrear very well and then he makes sure he defend for the team when they need him and then the way he plays high line. So I want to be like him and I hope one day I can play like that because he is a very good goalkeeper and very vocal. I wish I can play like him” he concluded.
