The Member of Parliament for Atiwa West Kwasi Amoako Attah has warned that any hotel, guest house or facility offered to accommodate miscreants to foment trouble on December 7 “will be in danger as the lives of the suspects”.
Addressing supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party at Abomosu and Sankubanase in the Atiwa West constituency of the Eastern Region on Sunday 29th November 2020 after a campaign walk, the MP revealed that intelligence have been gathered about plans by some criminal elements to cause violence in the constituency ostensibly to intimidate and discourage voters from turning out to vote.
The MP thundered against these evil plans stating that he is well prepared to crash such miscreants.
“The security intelligence we have is that some criminal elements want to foment trouble here. I am warning those in the hospitality industry and Landlords if you accommodate such persons, your facility will be in danger as the people you are keeping. I am telling you those troublemakers if identified in your hotels or guest house, their lives are as much in danger as your facility or your house’’.
The Lawmaker who also doubles as the Minister of Roads and Highways fulminated that, never again will the NPP allow reoccurrence of the atrocities unleashed to residents of the area in the 2010 by-election.
“My people were brutalized to the extent that they drove their cars, run through some of my supporters… 2nd fool is not a fool. From now till Election Day, I am not going anywhere. I have sought permission from the President, so I am staying here until December 7. Since last week, I’ve heard a threat from some troublemakers who want to disrupt the election with violence to cause fear to NPP supporters. They should pray that maybe I die before the election day, but if by God’s grace I am alive on 7th December, I am throwing a challenge to whoever thinks he is a man to foment trouble …I want to see that person! Whoever thinks he is a man enough to intimidate my people, we’re patiently waiting for him on that day. I am not going to reveal anything because for us, NPP we believe in the rule of law, we are humble, we are well educated, our president is a champion of the rule of law.’’ The Atiwa West Legislature stated.
Some regional executives who joined the walk with the MP include the NPP Regional Chairman Kingston Akomeng Kissi, Regional Organizer Kwame Appiah Kodua, Deputy Regional Women’s Organizer Monica Kessewaa, Regional Youth Organizer Jerry Osei-Poku and also, the Deputy CEO for Middle Belt Development Authority Lawyer Joyce Opoku Boateng and the disqualified aspirant Dr. Owusu Akyem.
