The House Majority Caucus is being urged by the Minority in Parliament to back its efforts to oust Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
A proposal for a vote of censure against the finance minister has been submitted by the minority.
Speaking to the media, Ahmed Ibrahim, the deputy minority chief whip, urged both sides of the house to work together to oust the finance minister.
“As representatives of the people and as duty bearers, we must move a motion to call for the end of the Finance Minister.”
“Our brothers in the Majority believe in this. What they should do is support the call of the Minority Leader and the motion for the Minority Leader for the dismissal of the Finance Minister.”
The briefing followed a call for Mr Ofori-and Atta’s Charles Adu Boahen’s resignation from the Finance Ministry by a portion of the Majority Caucus.
The financial crisis that has put pressure on the finance minister has seen inflation reach 37.2% and the cedi labelled as the worst-performing currency in 2022.
Due to Ghana’s currency problems, the Cedi now trades at over GH14 to the dollar.
