The Member of Parliament for Upper Manya Krobo in Eastern Region Bismark Tetteh Nyarko has touted the football talents in the Constituency stating that, some of the footballers qualify to play in bigger clubs and national teams.
According to him, the youth in the Constituency are naturally gifted and could play at national and international stages if natured by coaches.
He is therefore inviting football scouts to the Constituency to discover real football talents to feed clubs and national teams.
As part of an effort to develop football talents in the area, the lawmaker Hon. Bismark Tetteh Nyarko has instituted an annual soccer competition among communities to unearth talents and foster unity.
Sixteen (16) Communities participated in the recent competition held during the yuletide.
Athens FC from Sekesua Community emerged winner of the competition after thrashing Sutapong FC 7:0.
All 16 participating teams received a set of jerseys and a football from the MP.
Burak FC from Sekesua who placed 3rd received a cash prize of GHC 700.00.
Sutapong FC who placed 2nd got GHC 1000.00 whilst the ultimate prize of GHC 1500.00 and the giant cup went to Athens FC from Sekesua.
Another award was given to the Best Player from Athens FC.
Speaking to the media, the MP said sports in general has the power to foster unity, create jobs for the youth, stimulate economic development and bring excitement to the populace.
He, therefore, pledged his commitment to sports development in the constituency through infrastructural development, and technical and financial support.
