Spain based Peter Chikola has joined the Zambian camp in Alexandria ahead of Tuesday’s Group C match against Benin.
Chikola who is on the books of Cadiz says he is looking forward to helping the team come out of the group first and then step up to the target of world cup qualification.
“I am very happy to have joined the team. I found the guys are pushing and giving their best. I think everyone looks ready for the tournament,” he says.
“I am not saying it is an easy group, it is tough, but we will manage to firstly get out of the group and then fight for our target for world cup qualification.”
The former Kafue Celtic midfielder warned his colleagues against complacency as they were carrying the hopes of the nation.
“We should not be reluctant as if we have just come to play football because we are representing the whole country,” he says.
Chikola joined in training hours after arriving at the Arab El Borg Annex 1 Stadium in Alexandria.
Zambia is camped at Tolip Family Club in Alexandria and will open its account on Tuesday against Benin at the historic Alexandria Stadium.
