Swedish based Ghanaian footballer Joseph Amoako has been jailed for two years in prison for raping a 16-year-old girl.
The former Asante Kotoko winger will be axed from the country after his sentence and will also not be allowed entry into Sweden for ten years after his sentence.
Helsingborg’s district court has ordered the Ghanaian youngster to pay damages of SEK 215,000 to the girl.
Following the charges, his club, Helsingborgs IF has terminated the player’s contract.
Amoako joined Helsingborg in early 2022 from Kotoko and made 9 appearances.
Meanwhile, the 19-year-old become the third Ghanaian to be sentenced in prison for rape After Kingsley Sarfo and Kwame Bonsu.
