A delegation of faculty and students from Grand Valley State University (GVSU), USA, is on a two-week visit to the University of Cape Coast (UCC) to understudy Ghana’s Healthcare System.
At a briefing session to commence the visit on campus and other health facilities in Cape Coast, the Dean of the School of Nursing and Midwifery-UCC, Dr Nancy Ebu Enyan, expressed her excitement to receive the team.
She lauded the collaboration between the School of Nursing and Midwifery-UCC and GVSU. She further noted that the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 had a toll on the collaboration between the two institutions however the revival of the relationship was welcoming.
The team leader of the Grand Valley State University delegation, Prof. Susan Strouse, said she was optimistic that the visit to UCC would help them gain an insight into the Ghanaian healthcare system.
She touched on the patient and nurse relationships in the USA and hoped to know more about such relationships between healthcare providers and patients in Ghana.
The delegation was taken through presentations on “Overview of the Ghana Health Systems: Focus on the Types of Facilities and Role of the Nurse”; “Titbits about Ghanaian Culture”, and “Overview of UCC”.
