Gyaasehene of Amanase in Ayensuano District in Eastern region, Obenfo Addo Agyekum has been invited by Suhum Police over exhumation of bodies at a cemetery in the community and keeping the skeletons at the Palace.
It follows media report over rising tension in the community on the incident.
Sources say several bodies were exhumed at the cemetery which some reburied while others too were kept at the Suhum Government hospital morgue.
Information gathered indicate that Okyenhene Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin has sold the royal Cemetery to an investor for construction of fuel filling station therefore the chief were ordered to exhume all the bodies for reburial.
Suhum Police on Thursday April 21,2023 stormed the palace to investigate the matter where Police found skeletons packed in bags in one of the rooms.
Upon further interrogation, Police evacuated the Skeletons to Suhum government hospital morgue while investigation continue.
Speaking to the mybrytfmonline.com,Obenfo Addo Agyekum explained that, denied claims that he exhumed the bodies for spiritual powers.
“the cemetery has been sold to an investor as a result we have to exhumed the bodies .So Okyenhene Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin himself ordered that the bodies be exhumed to enable the investor develop the land so we held a community durbar ,invited everybody including pastors, opinion leaders to discuss the matter”.
The chief is assisting police in investigation.
