Management committee chairman of the Black Meteors, Frederick Acheampong has disclosed the team will be camping in Egypt ahead of the 2023 U23 AFCON tournament.
The much-anticipated tournament has been scheduled to start on June 24 in Morocco as Ghana seek qualification to the Olympic Games for the first time in many years.
The Black Meteors has been paired in Group A against host country, Morocco, Guinea and Congo.
In an interview, the Ghana FA Exco member revealed the team will play a couple of friendlies in Egypt before the commencement of the tournament.
“That is why we have chosen Egypt, that is where we hope to get some (friendly) matches because in June a lot of the leagues will be on break”
“We planned to go to a different country but because we may not get a lot of matches, we decided to camp in Egypt. We hope to play some of the countries that will be participating in the AFCON in Egypt.” He said.
Ghana has not qualified for the Olympics Games since Athens 2004 and will be seeking to secure a spot for Paris 2024.
