Eid-Al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is the second of the two Islamic Festivities to commemorate the obedience of Prophet Ibrahim to Allah and his readiness to give his son Ismail to Him (Allah) by way of sacrifice.
Hundreds of Muslims in and around Koforidua trooped to the Koforidua Central Mosque to partake in the Eid-Al-Adha fesival with colorful outlook. The regional prayers took place at the Central Mosque in Koforidua on Wednesday, 28th June 2023.
The Eastern Regional Deputy Chief Imam, Imam Ali Abubarka Abdallah who led the Muslims in prayer, thanked Allah for protecting them through the year and requested Allah to adhere to their supplications.
Imam Abubarka admonished the Mulsim community to embrace and respect each other’s differences, fostering inclusively and acceptance in the society.
He urged the youth to desist from tarnishing the image of the Islamic religion by way of negative acts.
In a statement made on behalf of the Eastern Regional Minister, the New Juaben South Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Isaac Appaw-Gyasi urged the Mulsims to be true and faithful to Allah and called on Muslims to continue to pray for peace in the country.
A sheep was slaughtered at the prayer grounds to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim being commanded by Allah to sacrifice his son
Ismail to Him.
The Muslims left the Mosque with the hope that, their supplications had been granted.
