Spokesperson for Kumasi Asante Kotoko Kennedy Boakye Ansah has said that his outfit will not slash player’s salary amid coronavirus storm.
Following the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus pandemic, all football activities in the world including the Ghana Premier League have been suspended as the country fights the increasing number of COVID-19 cases.
Clubs are feeling the financial pinch due to lack of gate collections and other income-generating activities.
It is believed that many clubs in the world have asked their players and technical staff to take a pay cut due to a lack of football activities.
In an interview with Kumasi based Oyerepa FM, the club’s communication director stated that they have no plans to reduce the salaries of their players and the technical team.
“I have always had the conviction that European solutions can’t solve African problems, apart from Kotoko and Hearts who pay their players considerably well, how much do other clubs pay, they pay peanuts and we talking about pay cuts”
“We haven’t considered pay cut,” he said.
