Akrofi-Christaller Institute of Theology, Mission, and Culture in Akropong Akuapem in Eastern Region has celebrated its 17th graduation ceremony, conferring degrees on 29 postgraduate students in PhD and Masters in Theology programs.
Honorary PhDs were conferred upon Dr. Alex Glover and Dr. Robert Aboagye Mensah, the atmosphere was charged with a sense of achievement and purpose.
Akrofi-Christaller Institute of Theology, Mission, and Culture stands as a beacon of scholarly excellence, dedicated to serving the wider Christian community in Ghana and across Africa.
Accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) as a postgraduate research institution, the institute holds a Presidential Charter, granting it the authority to confer its degrees.
Reverend Dr. Benhardt Y. Quarshie, Rector of the Institute in his address announced new programs and a significant reduction in academic fees, a response to the prevailing economic challenges faced by many Ghanaian students.
The ceremony’s Guest Speaker, Dr. Joyce Aryee, Executive Director of Salt and Light Ministries, took the stage, expressing concerns about the church’s impact on society.
She expressed concern over inexplicable pervasive corruption in Ghana, a country where 70% of the population identifies as Christians.
Dr. Joyce Aryee referred a research which shown that Christianity in Africa continue to grow and expand ,and for the first time in the history of the world Christians population in Africa has hit over 650 million , projected to reach 1.25 billion by 2050 more than second and third place contending continents Latin America and Europe which have Christian population of 705 million and 490 million respectively.
This she says calls for a paradigm shift of impact on the African continent.
She challenged the graduates to reflect on their roles, aligning with their divine mandate.
Pastor Emmanuel Kwasi Awudi, the Valedictorian,shared insight into the importance of academic advancements in theology for the kingdom ministry and societal impact.
Notable figures in attendance included Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah, former Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, and the new Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Most Reverend Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye and some chiefs from Okuapeman.
