A 26-year old habitual Cocoa thief has been shot dead at Agona Odobeng in the Asikuma Odobeng Brakwa District of the Central Region.
Information gathered reveals the deceased on Sunday, December 3, 2023 in the evening was in the act of stealing someone’s cocoa beans at the person’s backyard which the suspect shot him dead.
Speaking to Bryt Fm News Correspondent on phone, the Assembly Member for the area, Hon Samuel Kwesi Essien said, this was not the first time the victim has been stealing cocoa beans.
He said, the deceased has been arrested for several times for stealing Cocoa Beans but he always granted bail after his relatives pays money to the police at Agona Odobeng.
He added the notorious thief uses to say he has bribed the Police Officers at Agona Odobeng so therefore nobody can arrest him for stealing.
According to report, the victim was on wanted list by the community members for his misconduct.
The Assembly Man is therefore blaming the Police Officers in the Agona Odobeng for the mess because it was then that they always grants the victim bails any time he steal from the community.
Meanwhile, the suspect has been arrested and in the Breman Asikuma Police Custody assisting police investigation.
The body of the deceased has been also deposit at the Breman Asikuma Our Lady of Grace Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and Preservation.
