President of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says he is confident the Black Stars will go past the group stage at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana are chasing their fifth AFCON title having last won in Libya 1982.
At a farewell dinner on Tuesday night, the President expressed the team can emerge out of their group at the tournament.
“Cape Verde, Egypt and Mozambique are teams that we have beaten before and I’m confident we will emerge out of the group. There will be no repeat of events in AFCON 2021in Cameroon” he said.
The Black Stars departed to Ivory Coast on Wednesday morning after wrapping up preparations in Kumasi.
The tournament is scheduled to kick off on Saturday, January 13 through to February 11, 2024.
The Black Stars will open their account against Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14, 2024 before taking on Egypt and Mozambique on January 18 and 22 respectively in Group B.
