Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Vice Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has assured small-scale miners of the party’s commitment to providing resources for responsible mining practices.
According to Dr. Prempeh, the next NPP government, led by Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, will make available machines, financial support, and technical training to miners.
He said this in Sunday October 27, 2024, during a campaign rally at Biniani-Anweaso-Bekwai Constituency in the Western North Region.
This initiative, he emphasized, aims to address the issue of illegal mining in Ghana.
Dr. Prempeh emphasized that the NPP government is not opposed to mining but will not tolerate environmental destruction caused by miners.
He urged mining communities to vote for the NPP to ensure effective measures are implemented.
The comprehensive plan to curb illegal mining is part of Dr. Bawumia’s vision for Ghana’s development.
As outlined in his manifesto, Dr. Bawumia aims to create a business-friendly environment, enhance economic growth, and improve the lives of Ghanaians.
By supporting small-scale miners and promoting responsible mining practices, the NPP aims to strike a balance between economic development and environmental sustainability.
Dr. Prempeh’s assurance underscores the party’s commitment to responsible mining and environmental protection.
